Cookie policy

1. About this policy
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device so it can remember information between pages. This policy explains which cookies this website uses and why.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are needed for the website to work, so they are always set:
shock-creative-session: the session cookie. It keeps forms such as the contact form working between requests, for example so your message is shown again if something needs correcting. It expires after 2 hours.XSRF-TOKEN: a security token that protects forms against cross-site request forgery. It expires after 2 hours.sc_consent: remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, so we don’t ask you on every page. It is only set when you make a choice, and it expires after 6 months.
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you’ve asked for are exempt from the consent requirement, so we don’t ask before setting these. They aren’t used to track you or for marketing.
3. Analytics
We use two analytics tools on the live site: Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, and Google Analytics, which only sets cookies if you accept them.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits, including visits to the page you see after sending an enquiry. It is cookieless: it does not set or read cookies on your device, does not use local storage and does not track you across other websites, so it doesn’t need your consent.
It gives us aggregate figures only, such as page views, the pages people visit, the websites that referred them, and visitors’ country, browser and device type. Read more about Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Google Analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, for example which pages are visited, how long visits last and which websites send visitors to us. This helps us improve the site. Google Analytics is provided by Google, a third party, which processes this information for us.
We only load Google Analytics if you choose to accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner. If you reject them, or don’t make a choice, no Google Analytics code runs and nothing is sent to Google. When you accept, Google Analytics sets these cookies:
_ga: a random ID that lets Google Analytics tell visitors apart, so we can count how many people use the site. It expires after 2 years._ga_<ID>: keeps track of your current visit, such as how many pages you have viewed. The <ID> part is our Google Analytics measurement ID. It expires after 2 years.
Read Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
4. Advertising and tracking cookies
We do not use advertising, social media or cross-site tracking cookies, and Google Analytics’ advertising features are switched off. If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
5. Changing your choice and managing cookies
You can change your mind at any time. Select Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to open the cookie banner again, then accept or reject analytics cookies. If you withdraw your consent, Google Analytics stops and we remove its cookies from your browser. You can also clear this site’s cookies in your browser, and we’ll ask you again on your next visit.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings; most browsers explain how in their help pages. If you block the strictly necessary cookies above, the website will still work, but the contact form may not send. You can always email us instead at info@shock-creative.co.uk.
6. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy if the cookies we use change. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated.
